Well my new plan didn’t quite work out that I mentioned in my last pregnancy update at 32 weeks. I was planning on publishing each week with an update and then I forgot last week, oops!
To be fair nothing major has really happened in the last two weeks and as it’s only six weeks to go I’ll be trying my very hardest to publish each week going forward.
Without further ado, here’s my 34 weeks pregnancy update.
How far along are you?
34 weeks, I can’t believe there are only about six weeks to go!!!
What size is baby?
According to a few websites I’ve looked at baby should be nearly 5lbs, our little one was measuring 4lb 8oz about four weeks ago.
None over the past few weeks. I’ve stayed the same weight that I’m quite surprised about. I have my 34 week midwife appointment on Friday so I’ll be letting them know about my lack of weight gain, as I’m not sure if that’s normal or not at this stage of pregnancy? I don’t feel like my bump has grown much either (although looking at the above picture it does look like it’s increased in size), and the midwife will also give my belly a measure to make sure I’m measuring as I need to be, etc.
Still pineapple and now chocolate (although not entirely sure this is a craving as I just love chocolate!).
I’m feeling a little more organised and that’s really helped my anxiety. I think we’ve come up with a birth plan, I’ll use the plan loosely as my birth plan went out the window with Rowan. We’ve decided we would like to have an elective c-section (not a decision we’ve taken lightly) and are due to discuss with my consultant on the 9th February the possibility of having a c-section on my due date or a couple of days beforehand. At the moment they are happy to book me in for one at 40 weeks + 10 days but I really don’t want to be going two weeks overdue. If baby decides to appear early then I’d be happy to attempt to give birth naturally.
Mainly Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP) and it’s pretty manageable as I now know what triggers the worst pain and that’s the cold weather and longer periods of walking. Rowan and I went for a 90 minute walk yesterday afternoon and I could barely move when I got home! With the help of a hot water bottle placed between my legs (not near baby), this really helped to ease the pain and I’m not feeling too bad this today.
I’m still really tired, Not sleeping too badly at night but it’s interrupted sleep as I need to keep getting up to use the bathroom and keep getting a little cramp in my legs. It’s also getting increasingly difficult to manoeuvre!
Baby is a little wriggler! Some days baby is moving more than others but that is the pattern baby has fallen into so I don’t really have any concerns about their movement. I’m still very cautious of keeping a record of babies movements and use an app each day to monitor them.
A funny thing we have noticed is that bump seems to move around more when Rowan is close to it, I have a feeling they are going to be getting up to some mischief together!!!
We have then noticed that when Alex goes near bump to talk, baby either hides and stops moving or if he’s listening too closely will kick him in the head.
Things to do this week:
Last weekend I was able to knock two of the items off my list from my 32 weeks pregnancy update. The changing table is now built and we cleared out the spare room and our room too to make room for all things baby related. We also had a trip to IKEA at the weekend to get some wardrobe organisers so I can now start preparing babies clothing and all the fun stuff.
We still have the following to do and I’m determined to get them all finished by the next update.
- Pack our the hospital bags for both baby and I – Still need to pack these although we do have everything we need
- Put the IsoFix Car Base in the car along with the baby car seat so they are ready to go
- Build the SnuzPod for baby to sleep in- I’m so excited to get this built and put into position, again can’t do this until the space is clear in our master bedroom
- Wash all the new bits of clothing and bedding we’ve purchased for baby
- Decide on some more name ideas!
One more thing I actually need to organise is a present from bump to Rowan and a present that Rowan can give to the baby once he/she is here. Any ideas and suggestion would be marvellous.
Right, I’ll see you next week for another update.
